In velvet it goes further, because the pile shifts under light and the colour reads deeper in the evening than it does in daylight.
Being solid is what makes it useful. An embellished velvet jacket is a piece you own for weddings. A plain one goes to a business dinner, a corporate event, a Diwali party and a birthday, and it leaves you free to wear the printed kurta or the necklace you actually like underneath.

How is this different from your emerald green velvet blazer?
It's the same jacket in a different colour ƒ?? solid velvet, notched collar, same length and price. Wine is the warmer, more traditional festive choice and takes gold jewellery; emerald is the cooler jewel tone. Pick on colour.
Is a solid velvet blazer versatile?
It's the most versatile velvet we make. Without a print or embellishment competing, you can wear a patterned kurta, a textured top or a statement necklace underneath ƒ?? none of which work under an embroidered jacket.
Can I wear velvet in Indian weather?
Velvet is best suited to evenings, air-conditioned venues, the cooler months and the festive season. For daytime events in the heat, a lighter fabric like rayon or poly muslin will be more comfortable.
Can I wear it to the office?
Yes, more so than our embellished velvet pieces. Over black or charcoal trousers with a plain top it reads as a considered jewel-tone blazer, which suits a business dinner or a corporate event.
Is it see-through?
No. The jacket is fully lined in mul cotton, so it's completely opaque ƒ?? and the lining is breathable rather than the synthetic kind that traps heat.
How do I care for a velvet jacket?
Gentle hand wash in cold water with a mild detergent, dried flat in the shade. Iron on low heat from the reverse side only ƒ?? a hot iron on the face of the fabric will flatten the pile. Never wring or twist it.
Can I pack it for travel?
Velvet holds its surface well, but it can show pressure marks if it's compressed. Pack it with minimal folding in a breathable garment bag, keep heavy items off it, and hang it as soon as you arrive so the pile settles.
What jewellery works with it?

Yes. Stock sizes run XS to 6XL, and anything outside that range is made to your own measurements through Custom Size. Choose Custom Size at checkout and we'll take it from there.

How long does delivery take?
Varnika Studio delivers to all pin codes across India in 7ƒ??9 days from the date you place your order. Shipping is free on prepaid orders. Cash on delivery is available at an additional ƒ??100.
Can I return it if the size is wrong?
Yes. Refunds are offered on blazers that arrive damaged and on wrong-size orders. Contact us within 48 hours of delivery, and once the item reaches us the refund is processed within 7ƒ??10 working days. On a wrong-size return the courier cost is borne by the customer, so the refund is issued net of return shipping.
